Why has the delete repository setting been removed from all of my repositories?

MonkyGames June 3, 2025
  • I am on a free account
  • I never received notice that exceeding 1GB limit would disable deleting repositories to free up space
  • My account has been put into read only mode
  • MFA doesn't work correctly anymore either - looks like it constantly resets causing me to use up my very limited pool of recovery codes

This is really dishonest business practice here. Since you imposed a 1GB limit, you should at least give us the delete function so that we can comply with these new terms.

The only option you are giving is that we have to pay to upgrade in order to drop our limits. So that we can go back to being free.

G'day, @MonkyGames

We wanted to let you know that we contacted everyone back in January 2025 and shared a blog post about these changes. You can find more details on this here.

With that in mind, we did not make any changes to prevent your repository from being deleted. Can you please clarify what you mean by being unable to delete the repository? Perhaps provide me with a screenshot of what you are seeing in the repository settings under delete?

Regards,
Syahrul

Thank you for unlocking my account. I am now able to delete repositories. Don't pretend like it wasn't locked.

To add, I don't know about you but the "we contacted everyone back in January" part is certainly not true for me. I unsubscribed from mails due to the Webinar spam they were sending and probably hit "unsubscribe all" rather than going through the... 74 categories on https://id.atlassian.com/gateway/api/marketing/email-preferences. But surely that one is an email they should send regardless.

Either way it's inexcusable that they didn't bother putting notices about these changes into the actual product where people would see them.

And the fact that your account is locked until you complain on the forums and then Atlassian support pretends like your account wasn't locked.

I have been using bitbucket for years both personally and professionally. I know the repos settings were simply missing until I complained. Then magically they appeared after I complained. I should have taken a screenshot as proof.
