Error opening confluence just after installation - IllegalStateException

Suporte AGTI June 8, 2020

Hi,

I installed confluenc in my vps yesterday, and then turned off the machine to upgrade it in order to run jira and confluence in same machine.

Now, when I access mydomain.com:8090, I see the following error:

I tried to re-execute the confluence install script, using the "upgrade" option, but the error persist. I didn't see any error before the vps was turned off.

Hello @Suporte AGTI !

As @Pedro Felgueiras said, there is a comprehensive document for us to use as a reference when tackling this issue:

There are a few notes to be made about it though:

  • Each possible solution must be tested on its own, do not try to apply multiple solutions at the same time
  • Make sure that the user used to start/stop Confluence has enough permissions on both <confluence-home> and <confluence-install> folders
Confluence Home and other important directories
  • Make sure that your Virtual Private Server is within the Supported Platforms for your Confluence Server version:
    [Confluence Server] Supported Platforms

You can check further instructions on how to install Confluence here:

You can try to rule out problems with the permissions by performing the installation while using the System Administrator user account. It is not advisable for you to install Confluence outside a test environment with a System Administrator account.

Let us hear from you!

Hi,  @Diego Thank you for your reply

I was not able to fix the installation in the Server that is running Jira, so I made a Brand new installation in other VPS and everything went fine. As far as I can tell I made them in the same way.

But as it is working in the new server I will keep them as they are, in separate environments.

Thank you anyway.

hi @Suporte AGTI

Las tweek i had made an upgrade to confluence 7.4.0 and had the same problem.

For what I had checked it's because the permissions on folders.

Try the resolution 1 on this document, it fix'd it for me

Hi, @Pedro Felgueiras

I tried the 11 itens descriped in this link, but none of them worked for me.. I even tried to remove the confluence folder and install it again, bit now even the installer is not displayed for me in the browser. I see the exact same error..
