Hi,

Can anyone share some guidelines with me on how I can translate a Confluence publication?

I want to understand how I can export a confluence publication as a whole and send to translation to translate into one or more languages?

Then I need to understand how I can import those translations back in so I have localized publications that match my English in style and layout.

Also any tips on how to manage translation updates?

Thanks

Kerry

Hi @Kerry Williams

Welcome to the Atlassian Community :-)

You might want to have a look at our app Scroll Translations, which allows you to manage multi-lingual content in Confluence.

Scroll Translations offers an in-built editor to translate pages manually directly in Confluence, but can also be used in combination with an external Translation Management System (TMS).

If you have a TMS in place, the process is as follows:

  1. Define your default language (the language you initially write your content in), and multiple target languages (the language you want to translate to).
  2. Create your content in your default language and - once the content is ready to go
  3. Create a Translation ZIP file, that can be imported to your TMS
  4. Translate your content in your TMS, and finally
  5. Re-import the translation back into Confluence to make it available to your readers.

A public example of a site using Scroll Translations is the BMC Remedy Documentation (besides Scroll Translations the sites are set up using Scroll Viewport, which styles the content in the companies design):

Scroll Translations - as all Marketplace apps - can be evaluated for free for 30 days. Please feel free to download it from the Atlassian Marketplace, install it on your test system and try if it fits your needs.

If you have questions regarding the functionality or have problems using the app, please get in touch with our support team via support@k15t.com.

We'll be happy to help.

Cheers,
Nils
