Link Requirements on different JIRA projects

Samer Salama April 4, 2022

All,

Is it possible to link JIRA requirements from one project to another? Reason I ask is because my client has a JIRA instance for code, config changes and user stories.  They have to keep them separate (long story).

We use GitLab for deployments.  Often on deployments, they create tickets in the config or code instance and want to link it to the instance where the user stories are housed.  Is this possible?

Any ideas how this can be accomplished?

Many thanks,

Samer

Hi @Samer Salama welcome to the Atlassian community.

If I understand your query, you would like to link a requirement (story) of project A to project B? If yes, then Jira definitely allows linking requirements across any projects provided it is on the same instance.

Kindly ensure you have the link issues project permission before getting started.

@G subramanyam The JIRA instances are separate.  Apologies, I should have been more clear. Is there a way to link 2 instances to each other? If not, what options do I have? Is there a way to tag a user story on another instance or vice versa?

Thanks,

Samer
