A new issue is created without an assignee so no one is notified about it.

We have a field called squad (similar to team) and whenever an issue is created on my squad I would like to be notified.

I tried to use the auto-watch rules and defined that I will get an email whenever an issue has the value of my squad. It only works if the issue is being updated and already have the relevant squad... it doesn't work for the creation itself of the issue.

I also suspect that when an issue is moved to the squad (team) - I'm also not being notified but didn't verify that yet. The creation flow is more important and it's not working for sure.

This seems like a defect to me that should be fixed.

Any other way to achieve that?

Hi @Nimrod Nahum

Use 'Notification Schemes' and set that for a 'Issue Created' event, email should be triggered to the custom field value Squad (a group custom field??)

Hi @Fazila Ashraf,

Thanks for the quick response! I think I didn't explain myself properly.

After reading the documentation and trying it out... looks like the notification scheme is not what I need. In the squad field I don't have group/user to send mails to.

In the squad field I have a text which is the team name. I also don't want to notify the entire team, I just want to say that in case the squad = 'Platform' notify me (a single user).

I will also point out that when going to the notification helper - putting my user and an issue created yesterday with the "Issue Created" event - it says that I should be notified but I wasn't. So it does look like a defect.
