Hey all,

We recently integrated Jira with Google Apps, which we use for a lot of our overall web services. It's been great to be able to log into Jira without managing multiple logins. However, there's been one snag.

Prior to integrating with Google I could stay logged into Jira more or less indefinitely. However, since integrating our users have found themselves constantly timing out. I looked into the issue and it seems like you can modify the timeout period (30 minutes default in Jira 4.4) by editing the file at <YOUR DEPLOYMENT>/WEB-INF/web.xml.

Unfortunately I can't seem to get to that file. I'm not sure if it doesn't exist for me since we're using the hosted solution or what. I would really appreciate some help or a workaround for this issue.

The timeout situation you are describing is a known issue that we are working to resolve ASAP. Your research about setting the timeout length is correct (and we would need to do it for you since you have a hosted instance) however that is for the timeout setting for JIRA and not Google Apps (as Google Apps is causing the timeout). The link to the bug report is below and while it was opened a while back, it is a high priority issue and we will hopefully have a resolution soon.
