Auto-schedule: Why story with higher priority are not put in earlier Sprint

Cecilia Chan December 23, 2020

Hello all,

I have a question regarding the auto-schedule criteria. I have a Sprint of 2 weeks time and team velocity of 55 story point/ Sprint.

In this plan, there is only 1 story with highest priority, however, in the auto-schedule result, it is not planned in the first Sprint.

I have also try the ranking, but seems it is not related either.

Does anyone know the logic of it? Thanks. Advanced roadmap.pnguto-schedule? Thanks.

If you change the hierarchy filter to just show stories - what does the ranking look like?

Stories and epics are ranked independently (every issue in Jira has a global unique rank) and a story can be ranked higher than another story belonging to the a high ranked epic.

The priority field is not considered by the auto-scheduling algorithm, but the rank is.

Dave

Check if there is a dependency on story or it is assigned to a release in future.

No. There is no dependency or no released assigned.
