Hello,
I'm using Advanced Roadmaps (cloud) with the following hierarchy:
Portfolio Initiative >> Initiative >> Epic >> Story >> Sub-Task.
Is there a way to sum up numeric field from all the epics under the initiative to the initiative level?
Automation -
How can I access the parent in higher hierarchy than epic?
How can I sum custom numeric field from all the epics under the initiative to the parent?
Any addons I can use?
If script runner - examples will be appreciated :)
Thanks,
Yaron
Hi @Yaron Azar
Welcome to the community !!
To visualize the issue hierarchy and sum up of numeric fields at each hierarchy level, we have created an app to track the progress at each level,
Agile Tools - Epic Tree, Links Tree and Time in Status
You can view the full Jira Issue Type hierarchy of Linked issues, Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps, Epics, and Subtasks up to 10 levels.
Key features :
Along with this there are multiple other features like Time in Status, Worklogs reports etc which the app provides.
Thank you @Rahul_RVS for this input - I'm investing this add on right now.
Can I limit the hierarchy levels?
Is the sun up saved in the relevant parent level?
Can I override the sum value?

Hi @Yaron Azar
Thanks for your reply and trying out our add-on.
The sum up value is not saved at the parent issue level. The app will add up the time estimates, story points and any custom numeric field from the lowest hierarchy level and display the same at each parent level.
You can definitely override the values at each level as they are editable.
Also the hierarchy is based on your Linked issues, Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps, Epics, and Subtasks but max up to 10 levels. It can certainly be lower than 10 levels.
Can I request you to spare some time, and we can demo the app including all the features which will be beneficial for you to track your projects.
Our mail id is support@rvsoftwares.in .
Looking fwd to hearing from you.
Thanks
Rahul

Hi @Yaron Azar
As of now custom numeric fields are not editable on the screen.
But if its a must requirement for you, I will discuss with team on the feasibility and work on it.
Thanks
Rahul

Hi @Rahul_RVS
Thank you for the update.
Will it sun the values of the custom filed to the parent level as well?
Any estimation on the release date for the cloud version?
Regards,
Yaron

Hi @Yaron Azar
it is already summing up the custom field value upto the parent level as shown in screen below.
We will now make it editable as well. We are looking at an early Feb release for his change.
Please do let me know if you have any further queries.
Thanks

Hi @Yaron Azar ,
you may use something like Epic Sum Up (our plugin) to summarize whatever you want in a summary panel:
and in the next version (3.10) we will release the support for any roadmap hierarchy..

Thank you for the update.
I already tried the Epic Sum Up and currently since its still blocked up to epic level it didn't worked for me.
I'll looking for to see the next release.
BTW - if & how can I store the aggregated values in the parent level?

Hi @Yaron Azar ,
what do you have in mind if you say "storing in parent"?
all values are calculated on the fly as they are very volatile. But you can snapshot data by using API on DC/Server.
For the support of Jira Roadmaps: I can send you info about planing and we can test on beta as it is already developed. Juts waitiing for release.
send me an email to: a.haaken@aptis.info for a closer look.

By storing in parent I mean that I need to find a way to save the numeric field sum value from all the child issues (epics in this case) in the parent.

Ok, why do you want to store this value at the Epic?
(in comparison to show and live calculate it there?)

Hello again,
I need ability to save the calculated sum of numeric field in the parent for hierarchy levels above Epic once defined via advanced roadmaps.

Hi @Yaron Azar
As an alternative, try a Time in Status for Jira Cloud add-on developed by my SaaSJet team. There is a Pivot table function, which supports such additional options for report analysis:
Discover more about the Pivot Table function.
You can try the trial version or order a demo call. I hope you find it helpful.

Hi All,
I have an Epic & i have linked multiple existing stories in it.
I need to create a Calculated scripted field from which Estimations of all stories linked in Epic should be summed & display it.
I also have an scripted field for Stories which calculate the sum of all tasks & sub-tasks linked with the stories & provides expected result
I tried to invoke that field in this Epic Script ,to calculate & generate output but it results as 0.
Please find below Script & help me on this requirement ASAP
Script Used-->//Scripted field-->Stories linked with Epic --Original estimate Calculation
import com.atlassian.jira.ComponentAccessor
import com.atlassian.jira.issue.CustomFieldManager
import com.atlassian.jira.component.ComponentAccessor;
import com.atlassian.jira.issue.Issue
def issueLinkManager = ComponentAccessor.getIssueLinkManager()
def cfManager = ComponentAccessor.getCustomFieldManager()
double totalestimate = 0
customField = cfManager.getCustomFieldObject("customfield_14126");
//customField1 =cfManager.getCustomFieldObjectsByName()
log.debug(customField)
if (issue.getIssueTypeId() != "10000") {
return null
}
issueLinkManager.getOutwardLinks(issue.id)?.each {issueLink ->;
if (issueLink.issueLinkType.name == "Epic-Story Link" ) {
def linkedIssue = issueLink.destinationObject
log.debug(linkedIssue)
double originalestimate =(double)(linkedIssue.getCustomFieldValue(customField) ?: 0)
log.debug(originalestimate)
totalestimate = originalestimate + totalestimate;
}}
Thanks in Advance
