Timeline Function Using Kanban Boards in an Advanced Roadmap Plan

I want to use the Timeline Function in an Advanced Roadmap Plan, but I think that only works with Sprint Boards not Kanban Boards. Is this the case, if so, any work arounds?

Hi Travis, I also would like an answer to this, I believe that you can make it work for Kanban, but I'm not entirely sure how this works successfully! 

If anyone is able to help us both out with some examples please?
