Hi,

in our company, I am the new Jira admin. Our Jira 8.13 is running on an Ubuntu. As Jira and Ubuntu are some versions behind, we would like to upgrade both (-> security and feature updates). What is the correct procedure? Would you do the steps in the following order?

  1. first copy live-system to test-system
  2. upgrade ubuntu on test-system
  3. upgrade postgress-sql on test-system
  4. upgrade Jira to 8.19.x on test-system
  5. upgrade all apps
  6. full index of jira
  7. repeat on live-system

Is there an official documentation for this? What is best practice?

Your list appears to be in the correct order.

@Christian Schneider

There is definitely documentation on how to handle your Jira upgrade. However, as an Admin myself I will suggest you to upgrade your Operating System first give it like a day or two to make sure that everything is working fine. Then proceed with Jira upgrade. In case there are problems you know it is not the Operating System.

Regarding documentation for your upgrade you can find it below:

If you have any questions, please let me know

Best of luck!
