When adding a new project to my kanban board in Greenhopper, the project won't appear as a swimlane, even after adding the JQL query (in the swimlanes tab of the configuration of the kanban board):

project = ProjectName

Can you clarify what you mean when you say "added a new project to my board"? Do you mean you created a new board with that project and it doesn't appear, or that you modified the filter associated with a pre-existing board to add the project?

I believe this is due to your overall Rapid Board filter not including the projects that you want to appear in your swimlane. The swimlanes do not include anything beyond the Rapid Board filter, but only query inside of the configured bucket of items already.
