Hey Atlassian Community! π
Broken Build has released version 2.2 for Agile Burnup Burndown Charts and Agile Cycle Time Charts, introducing powerful forecasting capabilities, enhanced visibility features, improved chart customization, and work item content insights. These updates are also included in Agile Reports & Gadgets 8.2 - our comprehensive bundle that combines the functionality of both apps.
π― Key Highlights:
Agile Cycle Time Charts 2.2:
Time in Status chart in the right bar of the work item layout
Transition count table without leaving work item context
π Available in: Agile Cycle Time Charts
βοΈ Compatible with: Cloud and Data Center
Agile Burnup Burndown Charts 2.2:
Alternative throughput data sources for forecasting before projects establish a velocity history
Health Metrics with key indicators for quick project assessment
Metric visibility configuration for customized chart displays
Enhanced remaining work modeling with dedicated sidebar access
Completed work breakdown for effort distribution analysis
New templates for Velocity Percentile and Monte Carlo scenarios
π Available in: Agile Burnup Burndown Charts
βοΈ Compatible with: Cloud and Data Center
π¦ Bundle Option: All features available in Agile Reports & Gadgets 8.2, which includes the complete functionality of both individual apps.
π― Solution to context switching: You can now see how much time a work item has spent in a particular status, as well as the transition count to each status, without leaving the work item context.
β What you see:
Time in status is displayed as a chart
Transition count to each status in a table
All data is visible in the right bar of the work item layout
π Available in: Agile Cycle Time Charts (included in Agile Reports & Gadgets bundle)
βοΈ Compatible with: Cloud and Data Center
β οΈ The challenge: Existing forecasting solutions can predict delivery dates only when sufficient throughput data exists. During the initial phase of a project, when your team has not yet completed any work items, traditional forecasting fails.
β The solution: Use an alternative data source to obtain throughput data for building a forecast. Any data source can provide velocity data for the primary one.
βοΈ How it works:
Pull throughput data from another team's board
Use similar project historical data
Configure the delivery team board JQL to retrieve throughput data
Apply the capacity allocation coefficient for scenario modeling
π Practical application: If you've decomposed your project into stories with estimated Story Points and want to use your delivery team's throughput to forecast the delivery date, you can use your delivery team board JQL to retrieve that throughput data.
π‘ Pro Tip: Use a JQL filter for the board instead of the Scrum board as a data source, because you want a weekly forecast based on weekly throughput rather than sprints.
π Available in: Agile Burnup Burndown Charts (included in Agile Reports & Gadgets bundle)
βοΈ Compatible with: Cloud and Data Center
π― Purpose: When your burnup or burndown chart displays a dynamic forecast, Health Metrics highlight key indicators for quickly assessing the situation beyond just the projected delivery date.
π Health metrics:
Completion status β the percentage of completed work compared to the total scope. Useful for understanding overall progress.
Scope change (total and average) β the difference between the scope at the start and end of the selected time frame. This metric reveals how the scope is evolving and the rate at which it's increasing.
Number of unestimated work items β an indicator of how much scope remains unestimated, which can mask future increases in Story Points.
βοΈ Customization: You can turn off any metric if needed.
π Available in: Agile Burnup Burndown Charts (included in Agile Reports & Gadgets bundle)
βοΈ Compatible with: Cloud and Data Center
π― User feedback response: Flexible configuration options for lines and labels on the chart, allowing each user to ensure the graph emphasizes only the key data.
β Applies to:
π Burnup charts
π Burndown charts
π Sprint/Daily Burndown charts
π Available in: Agile Burnup Burndown Charts (included in Agile Reports & Gadgets bundle)
βοΈ Compatible with: Cloud and Data Center
π― Improvement: Robust tools for modeling different scenarios related to remaining work have been moved from the Forecast dropdown to a dedicated section in the right sidebar, making it easier to experiment with different options.
βοΈ Remaining work value:
Auto β the chart pulls the value from the primary data source
What-if β allows you to set a specific number
JQL Filter β narrows the scope of the remaining work
βοΈ Remaining work growth:
None β assumes the scope won't change
Average β calculated using historical data
What-if β allows you to set a specific number
π Available in: Agile Burnup Burndown Charts (included in Agile Reports & Gadgets bundle)
βοΈ Compatible with: Cloud and Data Center
π― New capability: Break down all completed work displayed on the chart, allowing you to analyze where the effort was invested and segment it in various ways.
π Available in: Agile Burnup Burndown Charts (included in Agile Reports & Gadgets bundle)
βοΈ Compatible with: Cloud and Data Center
π― Simplified access: Two additional templates eliminate the need to navigate to Scenario settings to disable basic scenarios and enable Velocity Percentile or Monte Carlo ones.
Previous Workflow: Navigate to Scenario settings β Disable basic scenarios β Enable advanced scenarios
New Workflow: Select template β Begin analysis β¨
