The GitHub for Atlassian app does a great job of connecting Jira to our GitHub repositories. We are able to create branches from within Jira and do many other functions. And it's free!

I am currently testing Stratcom's barcode scanning solution for Jira asset management and am very much looking into full implementation.

We use Revyz's App Command Center for Jira for the DevOps-like processes we have. Thanks @John Funk for mentioning GitHub for Atlassian, I'll take a look at that!

@John Funk
Does the GitHub for Atlassian app support the Development field on Jira's agile boards?
My teams find high value in this field.
We have real-time feedback on our backlog view.

thanks!

Hi

I sincerely believe that one of the best is GitHub. It is true that there are countless applications in the marketplace, but it must also be recognized that this is one of the most used in general and is very standard, in addition to being very easy to integrate with Jira

Regards

@John FunkI completely agree with you—I genuinely think GitHub for Atlassian is the best, especially because its free Jira integration makes things much easier for people across an organization.

As with most people here, GitHub integration makes our lives easier.

And it's wonderfully easy to set up.

I have to second @John Funk 's comments on the GitHub for Atlassian app, especially since it's free!

We're beginning to use Azure DevOps with our Jira. While I wasn't particularly excited about it since I'm more used to working with GitHub and Jira doesn't natively support smart commits and some other kinks but after a little elbow grease to set all that up Azure seems to do the job very well, especially at the enterprise level. Since we already have enterprise licensing, we didn't have pay for enterprise licenses for another tool.

My devs have been very happy with the GitHub integration, especially with the updated Code and Development views. My PMs love the glanceable view that ensures no PR left behind!

When I managed our Data Center instance, I integrated with GitHub via an OAUTH token and while it was pretty straightforward, it didn't allow for branch creates from Jira.  A free app that simplified this (IMO, necessary) integration would have made things so much easier.  Now that I look in Marketplace though, it appears that all those GH integration apps are Cloud-based.  No longer needed for DC and since it's going away, this is totally fine but I would have LOVED this a few years ago...

My product manager tries to create release artifacts in Confluence, but maybe Release Management: Workflows, Calendar & Roadmaps - Cloud would be an easier solution. I will suggest that he might want to take a look at this app.

For me and my team :

  • What are your favorite apps for DevOps? The GitHub for Atlassian app ✔️
  • How do DevOps teams within your organization use these apps? Easy setup and free Jira integration. We create branches from our Jira stories directly which is very helpful. ✨

Hi @Kelsey Van Scoy - thanks for posting the link to the DevOps Bundle. How do you (or anyone) create such a bundle on the Atlassian Marketplace?

We are currently in the process of simplifying our workflows on our product boards. As part of this process, we are testing the Xray Test Management app to empower our QA team (and product owners) and ensure our releases are more robust. We previously used Zephyr but our QA team wanted to trial Xray as a comparison.

Not so much into DevOps myself, but I know some people who use Azure DevOps connectors/apps (whether a native one or a third-party one) ⚙️

And as for QA, I know a few of my colleagues who worked with both Zephyr and Xray. Don't have a 'decision' which one is better, though :)

🔹 Structure by Tempo (Jira Portfolio Management / PPM)

Structure is a game-changer for us in terms of visibility at the portfolio level. The ability to create custom hierarchies has allowed us to see how individual tasks and initiatives align with our strategic goals without sorting through a mountain of tickets. For example, we’ve added milestones as an issue type to support project management alongside initiatives, epics, and tasks. The filtering options are fantastic and allow for tailored views based on team needs, which helps us balance priorities, spot dependencies earlier, and keep leadership updated without having to generate a dozen different reports.

🔹 Xray (Test Management for Jira)

We recently rolled this out, and it’s already delivering value. By having test cases, bugs, and UAT activities all integrated into Jira, our QA and DevOps teams have eliminated the need for switching between different tools. This integration provides greater visibility and clearer insights, leading to faster collaboration and smoother transitions between teams. Completing UAT directly in Jira has been a huge plus, facilitating quicker feedback loops and a more streamlined process.

I'm super curious as to how teams feel about using Bitbucket DC / Bitbucket Cloud as code repos for your DevOps Workflows! Yay or nayy? Does Atlassian measure up against Github/Gitlab?
