Jira offers two built-in roadmap options: Jira Timeline and Advanced Roadmaps.
Only Advanced Roadmaps allows you to visualize multiple projects for a portfolio roadmap. (Note: You need a Jira Premium or Enterprise subscription for this feature.)
And while both support dependencies, neither option offers milestones.
Here, I'll go over Visor's Gantt and Roadmap tool for Jira in detail. And show you why it's such a slick option.
Visor is the spreadsheet-inspired workspace that syncs bi-directionally with Jira.
It's super fast & easy to set up a Jira integration.
Best of all, you can import multiple projects in Visor.
Visor's JQL importer allows you to query for multiple Jira projects for your portfolio roadmap.
Not familiar with JQL? You can get our JQL cheat sheet once you register at Visor or schedule time to meet with a team member.
Visor also allows you to turn Gantt bars into Milestones, making your roadmap / Gantt easier to read.
External stakeholders LOVE milestones, as they bring clarity to your roadmap.
In addition, Visor allows you to import your Jira linked issues (or Jira Work Items, as they go by now).
When you import linked relationships, they can display in Visor's Gantt view.
Even if you choose to visualize an Issue as a milestone, the linked relationship will still be intact.
Visor allows you to share your Gantts, roadmaps, and reports with people outside your organization (or on other teams that don't access Jira regularly).
You can also create different views with the same data for different audiences. For example, you can share a high-level roadmap with your CEO and then a more granular Gantt with the QA team.
You can share via email or create a shareable link:
And that's it!
Try Visor out today to create and share Jira Portfolio Roadmaps that display milestones and dependencies.
