I've been using the new Localised Date Macro for Confluence app and wanted to share some feedback. I'm also interested to hear how others are using it.
First and foremost, thanks for addressing this use case for geographically distributed teams! Additionally, I really appreciate the alternative display formats. Thanks, Robert!
A few constructive suggestions to help this macro to be a viable alternative to the default // Date macro in Confluence.
- More efficient creation by make most field values optional with default values. Eg. The /Date macro defaults to today's date. Could /Local do something similar? Sets today's date, current time, and user's timezone, by default, rather than defaulting to rendering the 'Macro not configured' message.
- The formatting of the text appears to be smaller font-size than the Confluence editor's Normal text style of font-size: 1em.
- (like the Date macro) Inherit the Editor text style font-size Ie. Heading 1, Heading 2, maybe even Bold, Colors, etc.
- Ability to use /Local in Confluence actions/tasks and be recognised as the Due Date in the /wiki/home/tasks view.
- Campaign the Editor team to have /Local as a whitelisted macro for other Product surfaces? eg. Jira ticket description, Jira comments.
- Display a Tooltip OnHover with the Date and Time:Tz, particularly for the Time Since/Until display style.
- Allow user to search Timezone by code (eg. PST, AEST) OR location/city
Of course I'm not sure of the technical feasibility of any of these! But nonetheless, HTH :-)
