Behaviors serverside script affected by conditions when/except ?

We recently upgraded from SR 5.1.something to SR 5.5.3 and we have several behaviors with serverside scripts.

Has the philosophy changed between those versions concerning the execution or not of the serversdie scripts ?

I'm under the strange assumption that the when / except clause did have an impact on the serverside scripts and they don't anymore. Am i getting crazy ?
