Visible by and Editabe by

Irene Strack March 19, 2025

Hello,

I am tryng to set a field in the confiform "Field Definition" that should be visible to two groupes A and B, but only editable by the groupe B.

When I set those conditions, the field desappears for the both of the user groupes.

Does this function have certain condition?

Regards

Irene

Hi @Irene Strack

I believe the question is about ConfiForms app and it's functionality - have labeled the question accordingly

To answer your question - no, these are "independent" settings. You can define who can view and who can edit the field. The one who can edit should also be set in the parameter of who can view. So, your setup sounds correct - could you share what exactly have you configured in the Field Definition macro for these parameters?

This all looks good - what is not working for you?

Please note that the user must have edit permissions to the record as well, in order to be able to edit it (that is in addition to (a prerequisite) the restriction you are setting)

Ok, even if i leave the condition "visible only to groups/users" emtpy, and set the condition "editable only by" for the group A. As result, the field is not visible for the GroupB, despite of their rights to modify the page.

Hi @Irene Strack

Welcome to the community,

configure the field's view and edit permissions within the "Field Definition" settings. You can do this by specifying which groups have "View" and "Edit" permissions for that specific field.

Here's a breakdown of how to achieve this:

  1. Access Field Definition:
  • Navigate to the ConfiForms administration panel within your Confluence instance.
  • Locate the form where you want to configure the field.
  • Open the "Field Definition" section for the specific field you want to modify.
  1. Configure Permissions:
  • View Permission:
    • Identify the "View Permission" or similar setting for the field.
    • Select the "Groups" option and choose both groups A and B to allow them to view the field.
  • Edit Permission:
    • Locate the "Edit Permission" or similar setting for the field.
    • Select the "Groups" option and choose only group B to allow them to edit the field.

Hope this helps
