We have added Initiatives to our ticket hierarchy in order to group multiple Epics from one or many Jira Projects. And then we create Plans to show the overall roadmap/timeline for the Initiative (i.e. "project").
We were then piloting the use of "Atlas" projects (not sure exactly what to call them) so that we could take advantage of the status updates functionality. We were then trying to link each project to the corresponding Initiative so that the due dates would sync. But the links keep breaking. I found a specific definition of the "where is your work tracked" link, and it only refers to Epics. Can you only link Epics to an "Atlas" Project and not Initiatives??
@Brad Lackey - I believe this is still the case:
Any Jira work type be linked to projects but only Jira epics can be synced.
You can see more about this here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/link-work-in-jira-to-goals-and-projects-in-atlassian-home/
Hi @Brad Lackey , I know that Epics and issue types higher than that (which would include your initiative if it is at level 2) became supported to link and sync. This page does mention epics and above.
When you say the links keep breaking, do you mean that the link disappears between the Atlas project and the Jira initiative or they are still showing linked, but not syncing anymore?
That's quite curious behavior!

I confirmed that our Initiatives are at level 2.
I was retesting this, and from the Jira ticket I clicked on "Go To Atlassian Home", and then it said my Atlassian workspace is now integrated with Jira. I swear I had done this before, but maybe not. Now things seem to be working correctly. However, I thought they were working before but then I was having to resync at times. I guess I'll just keep an eye out for it to happen again. Thanks!
