Follow up FAQ - Unleash your team with Rovo webinar

Hey folks! I recently hosted the Unleash your team with Rovo webinar.

Missed it? You can catch the replay here: Watch on-demand ▶️

It was awesome to see so many folks excited to learn about Rovo. We covered a lot of topics during Q&A, so I wanted to follow up with answers to your most common questions. 👇

How does Atlassian Intelligence differ from Rovo?

Atlassian Intelligence is built into Atlassian's Premium and Enterprise products like Jira and Confluence. It adds AI features such as natural language search and content summarization to these products.

Rovo is a separate product that uses Atlassian Intelligence. It tackles broader organizational data and workflow challenges. Rovo offers features like Rovo Agents, unified search across third-party apps, and smart answers.

In short, Atlassian Intelligence enhances Atlassian products, while Rovo works across multiple platforms beyond Atlassian's ecosystem.

What are the benefits of using Rovo compared to other AI tools?

Rovo is built into your existing Atlassian suite via Teamwork Graph. This means it can have access to rich business context across Jira, Confluence, Loom, and other 3rd party connectors.

How does Teamwork Graph enhance Rovo's responses?

Teamwork Graph is Atlassian Cloud Platform's data intelligence layer that connects data across all your apps, including Atlassian, Marketplace, and other preferred apps. It links the who, what, where, when, why, and how of work.

Unlike other data solutions that just gather data, Teamwork Graph understands your business, teams, and goals. It helps Rovo provide enriched responses with detailed organizational context, such as project statuses, task priorities, and goal progress, giving users a complete view of their queries.

When will Rovo be available for my organization? How will the rollout process work?

Rovo will roll out to Atlassian customers in phases over the next few months. While the actual list of which organizations and sites are always fluctuating, what I can say is we look at complexity as our main North Star for the rollout. Since our announcement, we've started rolling out Rovo to organizations with the least amount of sites, and are quickly approaching more and more complex organizations with varying degrees of… complexity. We'll continue to roll out until Rovo is for Everyone!

How will I know when Rovo has been added to my site?

  • Org Admins: You'll see a new section under Admin Hub's Settings Side Panel called AI Settings. There, you'll find 2 sections, Atlassian Intelligence and Rovo, two separate settings sections.
  • End users/Site Admins: You'll see a Rovo chat icon in the upper right corner of your Atlassian apps.

How can I learn more about getting started with Rovo?

You're in luck! We have another upcoming webinar on May 27th/28th. Grab a spot: Getting started with Atlassian Rovo 📅

What is the pricing model for Rovo? Will there be usage limits?

Rovo is included in your paid subscriptions of Jira, JSM, and Confluence. To ensure optimal performance and fair usage across all users, Rovo has two quotas that we use for "usage limits". You can find more information here: Rovo Usage Limits

What are some examples of Rovo use cases?

  • Jira admin cleanup: Ask Rovo to analyze your Jira instance and identify unused/redundant fields.
  • Multi-page analysis: Give Rovo a set of Confluence pages and ask it to identify themes, differences, etc. Tip: if you plan to do this frequently, you can build a Rovo agent that has access to that specific set of Confluence pages.
  • Root cause analysis: Ask Rovo to analyze SEV-1 JSM tickets and build out a root cause analysis.

You can also try out some OOTB agents to get started:

  • Jira Theme Analyzer: This Agent identifies themes among your Jira issues or groups issues into themes to create epics. Provide this Agent with a JQL (Jira Query language) query, a search results page, or just ask it to scan your whole project for potential themes to help you organize work.
  • Release Notes Drafter: Create comprehensive and clear release notes from a set of up to 20 Jira issues at a time with Release Notes Drafter. Summarize issues and group them into themes to save you time working out the best way to frame release notes for your work items.

When should I break a custom agent out into multiple agents? How do I know if its task is too big for a single agent?

I recommend starting by being specific about each agent's purpose. If that agent's tasks are creeping beyond the scope of that purpose, it's time for an additional agent.

Can Rovo agents be configured to act automatically? Or only when they are prompted?

This gets more advanced, but yes - agents can be configured to take actions automatically. For example, an agent can write release notes automatically when a sprint is set to a certain status. ⚡️

What other connectors or integrations does Rovo support?

The list of connectors and integrations for Rovo is always growing! Even after the webinar, we released even more. For the most up-to-date list, head over here (Available Rovo Connectors) to get the latest list!

When Rovo connects to a 3rd party app, does it just search that data and return search results? Or does it crawl and answer questions related to that data (not just search results)?

It depends on the connector. Some connectors only allow 'search', while others will allow Rovo to access and give context. Learn more here: Manage Rovo connectors

Are there controls for admins to control 3rd party connectors?

Yes. In your Admin Hub/Atlassian Guard, you can set controls for which connectors are allowed.

How does Rovo handle data privacy, compliance, and AI training models?

We have very strict data privacy and compliance requirements, that are always evolving with the world of Data, Privacy, Compliance and AI. So that I don't give you outdated information, because things on the internet can stay forever, I'd say head on over to our trust site for more up to date information: Atlassian Intelligence and Rovo | Trust Site 🔒

How are permissions managed in Rovo?

Rovo permissions mirror the current user's permissions.

If I have multiple Atlassian sites, does Rovo have access across those sites?

Yes. Rovo access is based on your Atlassian organization. So Rovo will have access to any sites under the same organization.

Are there learning or training resources available for Rovo?

Yes! Here are a few I recommend:

What are the future plans or roadmap for Rovo?

More connectors, more actions and automations, and more granular controls! We'll keep everyone up to date on our public roadmap! 📅
