Goals (Beta) field does not render contents in filters.

I am playing with the new Beta Goals functionality. I am hoping for an additional reporting dimension in addition to the portfolio layers (top level planning) and existing functionality.

I followed this article to add the field to my work items,

The field is available, and I can see the goals in the work item screen view. I can also filter on goals is not empty and the work items are rendered. When I add the goals field to the filter view, it is blank in JIRA and Confluence. Am I doing something incorrectly or are others experiencing the same thing? 

Is there a place where I can follow the backlog and releases for the goals functionality? I am happy to be a use case or a tester!
