Wanted to check if Atlassian team can support or has got any experience with StarRocks (High-Performance Analytical Database). Looking for support and consult, and do development together.
Potential opportunity to ramp up a new stream with them
Any support from Atlassian over implementation of StarRocks before and building new features like data share from StarRocks, experience with building StarRocks on other data storage (like S3), etc.
I don't thinks so.
I asked chat GPT to see what is the probabilty of adding such DB:
Chances of StarRocks becoming an officially supported DB for Jira/Confluence: <1%

more form the response:
❌ Why StarRocks is Unlikely to Be Supported Soon
1. Atlassian’s Focus Is on Traditional OLTP RDBMS
Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc., are transactional systems, not analytical.
They rely on ACID-compliant OLTP databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc., not MPP/OLAP databases like StarRocks or ClickHouse.
2. Strict Database Support Policy
Atlassian only supports databases they have thoroughly tested.
Any new database requires deep QA, integration testing, and JDBC driver vetting.
3. StarRocks Is Columnar and OLAP-Oriented
Atlassian’s apps make frequent transactional writes — not a good fit for a columnar MPP engine.
StarRocks isn’t designed to handle the mixed read-write workloads Jira or Confluence generate.
4. No Marketplace or Community Activity
No Forge modules, Connect apps, or third-party plugins show interest in StarRocks.
Zero mentions in Atlassian Developer Community or public Jira tickets.
