Extend Build warnings parser

I'm looking to use tools other than those that already have parsers in the Build warnings parser task. How would I go about extending this task with more parsers?

How do I view the Warnings Parser result details seems to be the closest related question and the answer implies there is a way.

The logic behind severity depends on the actual parser used, it's basically up to the parser creator to decide.
