Is there a way to identify branch names while the bamboo spec gets updated?

To gain the most out of the spec branch feature I want to use different stages/jobs for different types of branches without setting them up manually. Therefore I need a way to identify the branch name while the spec (java) is updated. With this option I would be able to add f.e. release build jobs for release branches.

Use com.atlassian.bamboo.specs.api.context.RssRuntimeContext#getCurrentRssBranch
