We renewed our Bamboo license, but our Bamboo instance still operates in read-only mode and doesn’t allow new builds or deployments. What steps must be taken after inserting a new license key to restore full functionality? Is a restart required or something else?
If Bamboo remains in read-only mode after you’ve renewed the license:
Check the License Key: Ensure you copied and saved the correct new license key in the Bamboo Admin → License details section.
Save Changes: After pasting the new key, click "Save" or "Update" to apply it.
Restart May Be Needed: For some multi-node or clustered setups, or if prompted, restart Bamboo (or all nodes) to refresh the license status.
Verify Status: After these steps, Bamboo should exit read-only mode and allow builds/deployments. If not, double-check that the license is valid and not expired.
If issues persist, clear browser cache, re-verify the license, or contact Atlassian Support. A restart is sometimes required to fully unlock all functionality after license update.
Hello Akbar,
Welcome to Atlassian community.
Usually Bamboo restart is not required after the License is updated. Can you go to Overview > License page and confirm if it's showing the new license with the updated validity.
