Tagging Bamboo Deployments

We would like to git "tag" our releases upon deployment, however, this requires that the project repository gets checked out.

I know that occurs during a build but how does that work during deployment where only artifacts are retrieved, not the entire repository.

If you can SSH into your git repo you can run a tag command there; otherwise, git does not support remote tagging
