Artifact repository at Bitbucket without Bitbucket Pipelines

Hi!

We are currently migrating our internal repositories, test and build servers to the cloud. We've used Gitlab for our repositories before and are now migrating to Bitbucket cloud.

I have a question that I hope is not to simple, since I'm no continous delivery expert:

When we use Bitbucket, do we have to use Bitbucket Pipelines in order to build artifacts when we push code to our bitbucket repositories and the branches are successfully merged?

We are developing native iOS and Android applications so our build serves will be hosted at Azure and MacStadium and our goal is to have a fully working continous delivery environment with Jira Software, Bitbucket and our test and build servers.

Again sorry if the question is badly formatted or wrong use of terms. But as an agile coach I'm trying to improve my teams work with continous deployment and currently our experts on this is not available. So in order to not create a bottleneck I'm hoping to get some clarification from here.

Please feel free to ask if something is odd and hopefully I can clarify it more.

Best regards,

Oskar
