I am trying to push some changes to my repo and keep getting an authentication error with SSH. I followed all the steps here to Setup SSH for Git and it worked like a charm. Specifically the error says:
"Authentication via SSH keys failed, do you want to launch the SSH key agent (Pageant) and retry?" Then some blurb about importing an SSH key.
So I did that. I opened up the import/conversion tool and converted my rsa file into a ppk for Pageant. I added the key into Pageant and I can see that it was added. But for some reason, SourceTree still will not authenticate the key and keeps saying that I need to add it into Pageant. This is my first time handling SSH keys so Im quite confused as to what the issue could be. Ive already tried restarting Pageant and SourceTree but it still gives me the same error. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
Some info if it helps; my project was not originally setup using SSH. I changed it to that so I could make the repo public while still having some level of privacy (thats the way I understood it at least. Again, total noob with some of this stuff). I followed the steps in the same guide to switch my repo from HTTPS to SSH and it worked fine and all the URLS appeared to change successfully. Not sure if that could be the issue or not.
