Hello community! We are currently using bitbucket and Jira, and would love to integrate bamboo in our tools. I wanted to know if Bamboo would be suitable for use as a continuous delivery tool, while the build of the different projects is from another tool (namely a cloud service such as bitrise, circleCI, travisCI). Is such a scenario possible?
We need to create different environments (dev, qa, staging, production) and want bamboo to be the one in charge of the deployment with manual interaction for going from one env to the next. Would that work if the CI is external?
Thanks a lot!
You can do that bu you will have to make the artifacts available to the Bamboo deployment project somehow. Also, you will be missing vital commit information, and changes between releases, if CI is done elsewhere.
Given an option, I would do both CI and CD is Bamboo but you can use it exclusively for one although that doesn't give you the full value for money.
I understand that we'll be losing important information, and my idea is to push for the whole CI+CD process in bamboo. But since we still have no CI/CD policy in place, we're considering all options and one is decoupling the CI from the CD process. Thanks for the info!
