Bitbucket extension in VSCode

Is the only way to commit changes to a Bitbucket repo before pushing them from the VS code IDE, to use the in built commit feature in VS Code or the VS code Terminal/command line or can I setup the Bitbucket extension to do it also ?

It is not possible to commit with Atlassian for VS Code extension. You can check the documentation below about what functionalities are available:

If you want to commit from VS Code, you will need to use VS Code's built-in commit feature or the integrated terminal.
