currently we have bitbucket 4.0.6 running on linux. The details of our current environment is as follows:
Linux - 2.6.32-754.18.2.el6.x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.10 (Santiago)
Java - 1.8.0_151
GIT - 1.7.12.4
mysql - er 14.14 Distrib 5.1.73, for redhat-linux-gnu (x86_64)
Does bitbucket 6.7 include GIT supported version and mysql supported version or should we be upgrade GIT and Mysql separately before upgrading bitbucket to 6.7? Please advise.
Hi Anil, as it states on this upgrade guide for 6.7 here.
You can update from any previous version of Bitbucket Server (or Stash) to the latest version, as there is no required upgrade path.
You can also check the supported platform changes here.
this page also indicates in what version support for a platform has ended
Git 2.23+ as of 6.6
MySql 8.0.11+ as of 5.16
Java 11 as of 6.0
Between these two pages you will find the prerequisites you need.
Please, as Atlassian recommends do review the change notes for each version. These will high light configuration changes you may need to make prior to get the best experience after the update. Especially so given you're a few version behind and there have been a lot of great features added.
A tip from personal experience.. We have found it best to copy the bitbucket vm and dry run the upgrade in a controlled environment. We do this for Jira and bamboo also.
Our workflow was to update the dependencies first, (in our case) MSSQL and Git for windows then run the bitbucket installer.
Good luck.
