I am trying to clone a remote repo from bitbucket.org, but received the following message:

fatal: unable to access 'https://<username>@bitbucket.org:<username>/my_repo.git/': Cert verify failed: BADCERT_NOT_TRUSTED

It's strange and I'd assume the certificates of bitbucket.org are signed by a CA.

Hey Yucheng!

I can see that you appear to be having issues connecting to Bitbucket via HTTPS.
Please try to make usage of an App Password when authenticating if this has not been done already by referring to the following documentation:
https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/app-passwords/

If this still does not work, please share the error message you are receiving. Also, can you please try to authenticate using SSH to see if this makes a difference?

Cheers!

- Ben (Bitbucket Cloud Support)
