Hi Maxxxel and welcome to the community.

The duplicated Bitbucket window inside Account settings is certainly a bug. We have a bug report about this here:

Despite that, the username change should go through. I tried to reproduce this both on Chrome and Firefox, and despite the bug with the windows, the username gets changed.

Do you see the new username if you navigate to https://bitbucket.org/account/settings/ ?

If not, can you please let me know:

1. What version of Chrome and Firefox are you using? If it is not the latest, can you update to the latest one?

2. Does the issue occur in an Incognito Chrome or Private Firefox window, with all browser extensions disabled?

Kind regards,
Theodora

After further testing, it looks that the username change doesn't go through when the username is already in use by someone else, and no error message is displayed.

Could you please try changing the username to something different?

Thank you, that was the solution. Maybe add an error message next time.

Cheers

You're very welcome. You're absolutely right, and apologies for the inconvenience caused by this.

Normally, an error message shows when you try to change to a username that is already in use. I believe that the bug I mentioned in my previous reply is what makes the error message no longer show. I've brought this to the attention of the development team.

Kind regards,
Theodora
