Hi, I have a problem cloning repository on Ubuntu from Terminal. The reason is error:  remote: Invalid username or password.

I am Using Ubuntu 18.04.3, and I wand to use Terminal or IDE for pull/push.

Is this possible?

I've done following to solve the issue, but it didn't help:

- reset password on gmail
- upgrade git to 2.24.0

Thank you in advance for answers.

Hello @Haris Berbic,

Welcome to the Community!

When you use Google to log into Bitbucket, you can't use your Google credentials to clone/push to repositories. You have two options here:

  • set up an SSH key and use SSH transport for Git. The clone URL suggested by Bitbucket will default to SSH transport as soon as you register a key with Bitbucket (you can always select the HTTPS version in the dropdown).
  • create an app password and use it with HTTPS transport.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Daniil
