Git rebase merging

Hi all, I read more and more the official git rebase command documentation, however I couldn't undesrtand which is the sense of -m option and how its purpose: my hunch is that sometimes git documentation is not cleared, rather confusing+dark one.

Please, could anyone provide a clear explanation and possibly an example?
