How put bitbucket v6.07 server into maintenance mode?

When the REST request:  <Bitbucket_Base_URL>/status returns 200 with a state of MAINTENANCE it means the service is being maintaned.

For networking monitoring purposes, we are looking to put a service into maintenance mode so that another node will take over services -- how is this done?
