How to Sort Repositories by Alphabetical Order in Bitbucket Web UI

Jaime Cuevas August 1, 2023

How do I sort repositories by alphabetical order in the Bitbucket web UI?

As you can see below, the default sorting is not useful.

Hi Jaime,

I'm afraid that it is not possible to sort repositories alphabetically by name on that page. Sorting is only possible by the Updated field. Repositories are sorted by alphabetical order when viewing the repos of a specific project (go to Projects > select a project).

We have a feature request for what you are asking:

I would suggest adding your vote to that feature request (by selecting the Vote for this issue link) as the number of votes helps the development team and product managers better understand the demand for features. You are more than welcome to leave any feedback, and you can also add yourself as a watcher (by selecting the Start watching this issue link) if you'd like to get notified via email on updates.

Implementation of features is done as per our policy here and any updates will be posted in the feature request.

Kind regards,
Theodora

Thank you for clearing that up Theodora.  I added a vote to the issue.

Also using the Projects view is a fine solution for me.

Not solved any more. Apparently Atlassian decided to remove the ability to sort by name even on the specific project screen. Seems like a huge miss for a very standard feature on lists.

Lame.

The "sort=name" query string trick on the main list is hilariously stupid. How can the developers be that inept?

I can sort by repo size, and I can sort by last update time ... but I can't sort by repo NAME??

0/10 UX fail.  Would not recommend.

Hi @Jaime Cuevas @Cory Tusar @Mark Neidlinger @Matthew Burdorff

Allow me to step in whilst my colleague Theodora is unavailable.

This is a known bug that has been raised recently. It should sort by name by default, but is not doing so at the moment which is unexpected behaviour. Please Watch this bug ticket for future updates, click This Affects My Team to improve visibility and add a comment if you wish:

Cheers!
