I tried to do a search but came up empty.
We currently have a Bitbucket Server (5.7.1) instance running on our private network using PostgreSQL for our DB.
We would like to shift to mirroring our codebase on bitbucket cloud and keep the local server as well. I couldn't find any guide online on how to do this.
Before I start playing around, I wanted to see if there were some recommended work flow on how to accomplish this.
I obviously can't just upgrade it, because the installer doesn't really seem to have the option to upgrade from one type to another. Do I have to install a whole new instance and then migrate the data over? Do I have to have the cloud account up and running first?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi there,
As you've found, we currently only support migrating repository data (your source code) from Bitbucket Server to Bitbucket Cloud. There's no supported method for migrating user accounts, permission structures, or repository metadata like pull request history and comments. We're currently gathering interesting in this feature, so if this is something you need we recommend watching or voting for this issue.
For more information about migrating from Bitbucket Server to cloud, I recommend reviewing Plan your Bitbucket Server to cloud migration.
As outlined in the guide, there are a few ways to move your data to the cloud:

I hope this helps, and please don't hesitate to reach out with questions.
