How to tell for a pull request whether close-branch was selected

Aimee Willoz October 11, 2019

I know how to select "close branch" when I create a pull request (and I usually do!).  When looking at someone else's pull request in Bitbucket, is there a way to tell whether or not "close branch" was selected for that pull request?  I'm not sure how to tell when looking at a pull request whether the branch will close on merge.  Thanks!

Hello @Aimee Willoz,

Thanks for reaching out.

No, I believe this property is not reflected on the pull request page, however it is shown in the merge dialog (when you click Merge, you'll see the dialog first). Moreover, this property can be changed in that dialog just before the merge. So the final decision is up to the person who merges the pull request.

May I ask what is the use case you need this information for?

Cheers,
Daniil

Thanks!  That's what I needed to know.

I'm working with one other person, and we're just starting to really merge new code in earnest.  My team member asked me if I wanted the branch closed on a pull request I made (I had selected "close branch" when I created the pull request).  That started me wondering how to tell on existing pull requests (so I could tell if my team member had set it for his pull requests.
