Is LDAP {CRYPT} supported for passwords?

Deleted user October 4, 2019

We have a use-case in our company were we have to use {CRYPT} (which should be something like CRYPT-SHA-512) for user passwords in our OpenLDAP. The OpenLDAP FAQ suggests that it should only be used if necessary https://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/344.html

Currently our LDAP configuration in Bitbucket is set to use SSHA which seems to be compatible with the CRYPT passwords, however, i noticed that a few users are not persistent in Bitbucket and i am looking for reasons why that is. The logs show no errors or other information. One thing which stood out was that users with a password set to CRYPT were not persisted in the Bitbucket Crowd. On the other hand side, users which migrated their passwords from SSHA to CRYPT do not have a problem right now. But i assume that they did not change their passphrase at all and only the hash changed. This would work which my theory that CRYPT is not supported by Bitbucket.

Has anyone insights whether this should work or not?
