License for 50 , we have now 51 due to school interns

We have a 50 user license which suits us well normally  for about 40 developers.

we recently took on 11 interns  from local colleges which puts us at 51.     we got message that pushed will end in 23 hours .

the interns will be gone again few weeks.

must we really upgrade license to 100  for this 1?   is there anyway to increase  what we need and pay accordingly?  Or  is there a way to have these interns on academic license combined with out full time employee license pallette?

No, the next step up in the license tier from 50 is 100, there is not in between if you are on Bitbucket Server. Academic licenses can only be purchased if you are one of the following organizations:

  • Educational institutions: Public or private K-12, vocational schools, correspondence schools, junior colleges, colleges, universities, or scientific or technical schools that are accredited by a national accrediting agency.
  • Administrative offices & boards of education: Provincial, district, regional, national and state administrative offices and authorities of the Educational Institutions defined above.
  • Public libraries
  • Home-school programs
  • Research institutes that are affiliated with an accredited university.
  • Teaching hospitals that are affiliated with an accredited university.
  • Training and teaching organizations that are accredited by a statutory government qualifications body.

Proof of accreditation or affiliation may be required when ordering an Atlassian Academic License.

So in your case, your options are limited, either upgrade to 100 user license or remove one user that currently have access to Bitbucket to get under your current limit.
