Looking to start using GIT and want advice on best approach for success. Currently we use perforce

Currently have a large perforce repo

For a new Project we want to  use git so  that we can start to  use the Atlassian Integration points fully

We have a server based install of multiple atlassian products

Question is 

Git Integration for JIRA plugin or Bitbucket , both involve spening some cash . What does bit bicket give over and above the plugin?

Can you just use git without these addons , or does that just mean you dont get the branch  intgeration functionality.

Does this mean you dont need stuff like gitflow and github?
