Merge BitBucket Server Users with Jira Server

Deleted user January 22, 2019

We are running BitBucket, Jira, Service Desk, and Confluence (all server starter licenses).   During the initial evaluation, I didn't link them.  These are all starter licenses so there are only a few (<5 users in each).

We have decided to stick with the Atlassian products and will probably upgrade if needed (we are a small development group and may never need more than 10 users) as we add more users.  Is there an easy way to link them and "merge" the users.   For instance, I will would like to start with BitBucket so that we can link Jira bugs, etc. to the repositories.  I am a user (and admin) in both, is there an easy way to "merge" my login in both packages so that I don't loose any history and permissions?

I wanted to ask first before trying it and possible breaking something.

Thanks

Hi Mark,

you can use Jira as a user server and link them all together using application links.

Allowing connections to Jira for user management

Connecting to Crowd or Jira for User Management

Link Atlassian applications to work together

Thank you Johan.   I did realize that, my concern is that I already have a user named "Mark" in Jira and a user named "Mark"  in BitBucket (there are other duplicates too).  How do those users get "merged", resolved, etc?  Will I end up with 2 users named "Mark"?   Will I have to reassing all the appropriate BitBucket permissions to the Jira users?  Or, are the users automatically merged/combined?

If all your users are currently in an internal user directory (eg Bitbucket Server), they will all be different.

Bitbucket Server - External user directories

Bitbucket Server - Users and groups

It will not be straightforward to merge when you have multiple duplicates, please also verify if you have configured SSH access keys.

Thanks, that's what I was concerned about.   I was hoping that maybe it would merge/consolidate them by email address or some other method.  Or maybe even some kind of "wizard" that would allow you to match up users.
