Problems connecting to bitbucket after Eclipse (and desktop) migration

PatriciaG April 28, 2025

I've recently switched desktops and therefore migrated to another version of the eclipse IDE (using it with essentially a copy of the existing eclipse workspace on my older desktop). Unfortunately, eclipse is now unable to connect to bitbucket.org (necessary to commit all the newer changes to my files in my new working directory). Eclipse says that it is unable to log in to bitbucket.org on port 22 because no (security) key seems to exist (or be found).
Here's what I did: I created a new SSH security key for bitbucket on my new desktop, added it to my Bitbucket settings, and also created a config file that associates that key to the bitbucket.org domain, as suggested in the Bitbucket instructions (as explained in Set up personal SSH keys on Windows | Bitbucket Cloud | Atlassian Support) . However, eclipse is still unable to see this configuration. What am I missing?

OK, I figured out the answer was simply to add the new private key to the Eclipse's General > Network Connections > ssh2 preferences.
