Account deletion not working as described

I have just tried to delete my account from several different browsers and they all have the same problem. The help topic says that after clicking 'Delete Account' I should get a confirmation dialog but no such dialog appears. I tried this on Firefox on Linux and Safari on iPhone.

How do I actually delete the account?
