Cannot connect Stash User Directories to Jira

I keep receiving the following when I try to setup my user directories in Stash:

Connection test failed. Response from the server:
com.atlassian.crowd.exception.ApplicationPermissionException: Forbidden (403) Encountered a "403 - Forbidden" error while loading this page. Go to JIRA home

I've double checked the settings in Jira and the Application Name and Password match what I am entering into Stash. Any thoughts on whats causing this?

Hi Craig, I did a little searching from internet where I found this article https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/STASHKB/Unable+to+connect+to+JIRA+for+authentication+-+Forbidden+403. Would you mind to try the resolution to see if any help on this case here ? If not, I would suggest to raise an issue to our https://support.atlassian.comchannel for further investigation.

Tried that article. Whitelisting did nothing to help it. =\
