Does the current version of Bitbucket support CentOS 8? If not, what is the recommended Linux OS? The supported platforms page gives no OS support matrix.
Thanks.
Hi @Damon Jones
Short answer: yes, CentOS 8 is just fine.
Long answer: We don't recommend any specific Linux distribution. Linux is broadly supported.
In Bitbucket 7 we've begun moving some lower level git-handling code from blocking IO to non-blocking IO, using the NuProcess Java library. This depends on Linux kernel 2.6.17 or higher … but that basically means any kernel after 2006. CentOS started shipping a kernel version higher than this back in 2007 with CentOS 5, so suffice it to say that CentOS 8 should be just fine!
Cheers,
Dave
