How to debug a "Something went wrong" error when creating a new app?

Michal Mazurek October 10, 2018

1. Go to "Develop apps"

2. Type in the descriptor URL

3. Receive a "Something went wrong" error message

I have no idea how to debug this.

Same issue with me as well.

Looks like this issue is on v1.0 API as it is near to EoL.

Are you also using v1.0

I'm experiencing the same issue. It would be helpful to get a more detailed error response. I have no idea where to start. It seems to be an internal server problem on Bitbucket's side.

Hi @Michal Mazurek,

Welcome to the community!

If the message "Something went wrong" appears on the browser, it should spit out useful information in the logs. Take a look at the browser console as well as the server logs.

If you can provide more information if would be helpful to assist further.

Check the status of bitbucket cloud services here: https://status.bitbucket.org/

Regards,
Lava

I see this in the logs:

POST https://bitbucket.org/!api/internal/account/myusername/apps/ 500 applications:32

So I'm still not sure how to proceed. 500 means Internal Server Error - so I believe that's a problem with BitBucket itself, or so it seems.
