Patch oracale DB Server: What happens on the Bitbucket application server in this timeframe?

Hi,

we have to patch our Oracle DB Server on which the Bitbucket DB is served from. The DB will be offline for a fiew hours. Do you know, is necessary, or recommended to shutdown the Bitbucket application Server during the db Server is off? Or is it possible that the Application Server still run and after the db is available again, everything works?

It is Clear that bitbucket is not working correctly without db.

Hi @Stefan Katz, 

you should shutdown the Bitbucket application before your Oracle maintenance, otherwise it will throw an error when the database goes offline.

But what happens when the applicationserver stays running, does the reconnect  automatically work?

Yes, the application will automatically reconnect when the database becomes available.
