Hi, I am trying to connect a project that I have in JIRA called testproject. In Bitbucket i have 2 projects: school and testproject. I want to connect testproject from JIRA with testproject from bitbucket. Is this possible? Also, would be possible for projects in JIRA to be connected to different bitbucket servers?
The short answer is no, you cannot connect a specific Jira project to a specific Bitbucket repository. What you can do is create a project shortcut in Jira to the repository. The integration between Bitbucket and Jira is not per project, it is on the instance level using the Application links. And yes, you can link one Jira instance to multiple Bitbucket Servers if you want to. To learn more about the integration, take a look at this blog post, 6 things you should know before & after integrating Jira Software Server with Bitbucket Server
Also take a look at this thread, https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Link-a-bitbucket-repo-with-a-JIRA-project/qaq-p/789603#M254887, in there you will find a link to a request to be able to set a default Bitbucket repository for a Jira project.

Thank you so much for your help! Where can I learn more about creating a project shortcut? and what would be the benefit of connecting jira to multiple bitbucket servers if a project cannot access a specific repo?

You can learn more about how to create project shortcuts here, https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracoreserver/project-shortcuts-938846248.html.
The only benefit I would see in connecting multiple Bitbucket servers to Jira would be if you are working with a customer/partner that have their own Bitbucket server, or if you have an external team that is using Bitbucket cloud because of security.

Even if the bitbucket configuration in jira is at jira's instance level, only those projects in jira will get updates/issue transitions, that get referred in the commit messages. Rest of the projects should not be changed.
Also, enabling the Development panel on issues in jira is at the project level. So we still have some control within each project whether to make use of the integration or not.
Is the above understanding correct in the context of bitbucket cloud and jira server integration?
