Any new user created in BB does not receive a notification email. Shouldn't they? -When new accounts are created in Jira, they receive an email. Each are configured with identical mail server configuration.
The scope of my inquiry is only when a new user is created.
The mail server sends every "test" email successfully and is received by the recipient -but, not for new accounts.
We have LDAP as the primary user directory and all accounts need to remain as LDAP accounts as this a government agency. When creating a user with LDAP as the primary user directory, there isn't a checkbox option (to email the user). Given this, is there a workaround?
Hello Matthew,
Thanks for providing the steps you’ve tested and confirmed test emails are working as expected. Since you’re using LDAP for your user directory, I would be interested to know if users email attributes are syncing correctly from LDAP into Bitbucket. Could you please check to confirm your newly created users from LDAP have appropriate email settings?
Further information about this may be found at Connecting Bitbucket Server to an existing LDAP directory.
Additionally, when you’re adding a user from LDAP, are the users being added bases on groups/permissions or are they manually being added per user? This will help to understand how the users are being added which may impact the emailing for new account creation.
We look forward to hearing back to help understand and find out why users are not getting email notifications when their accounts are created.
Regards,
Stephen Sifers
Hello Stephen,
I worked with Atlassian on this via a support request. Our email settings are correct and whether users are added manually or via being added to AD Groups synced with BB, the bottom line is this is a defect within BB, where email notification does not exist when users are created -unlike Jira. So, this issue remains unresolved until that functionality is added in BB for User Directories other than the Internal User Directory.
Thanks for your feedback, however :)
Matthew
